Monday - Students will participate in a review game that covers all parts of the Georgia State government unit. The game cards are available below and can be used as a study aid for the unit test. Tuesday - GA state government unit test Wednesday - Students will begin the New South (SS8H7) unit with guided notes. This unit will cover the ICE, Bourbon Triumvirate, Booker T. Washington, WEB DuBios,1906 Atlanta Race Riot, Leo Frank case, Rebecca Latimer Felton, and Tom Watson among other smaller events. The last part of the SS8H7 standard covering World War I will be covered in the next unit. Monday - Students will continue the state government unit with guided notes on the legislative branch of Georgia. Students will then read and discuss a chart that covers how a bill becomes a law in Georgia. Each student is responsible for completing a sheet that fills in some parts of the process. Tuesday - In groups, students will participate in a mock simulation of a proposed bill becoming a law including committee, voting, and submitting to the "governor" to sign into law. Wednesday - Executive branch guided notes; Complete the legislative and executive portions of the state government study guide Thursday - Continue guided notes on Georgia state government including the judicial branch (SS8CG4) and juvenile justice (SS8CG6) Friday - Students will complete **Please remember that the Site Visit Report is due the Monday after our February break, 2/27/17. Monday - NO SCHOOL/MLK HOLIDAY Tuesday - Students will finish the evidence sheets on the Reconstruction documents, complete a RACER on the essential question "Who Killed Reconstruction?", and complete a timeline to review for the Reconstruction quiz. Wednesday - Quiz on Reconstruction (SS8H6b); Preview the state government unit with a government vocabulary word search titled "The Great State". The reading sheet and vocabulary sheet are attached. Thursday - Students will begin guided notes on the Georgia state government unit (SS8CG) including voting rights and the executive, legislative, and judial branches of government. Friday - Students will participate in a "Rights vs. Responsibilities" matching game. Each group will then complete an assignment that compares/contrasts the 1983 Georgia Constitution and the U.S. Constitution. ** The unit quiz on Reconstruction (SS8H6) has been postponed until next week due to the school days missed from the inclement weather. **
