Monday - Finish Royal colony notes as needed; Students will complete a Venn diagram comparing and contrasting the Trustee and Royal time periods of the Georgia colony. With time allowing, students will begin the study guide for the unit on the Georgia colony (SS8H2).

Monday - Students will finish the guided notes on the beginnings of the Georgia colony and the Trustee period (SS8H2a&b) that were started last Friday. Upon completion, students will begin a project that will include an application for becoming one of the "poor unfortunates" to move to the new colony of Georgia.
Tuesday - Students will finish the application process of the project and interview other student(s) as part of admission into the Georgia colony. Wednesday - Students will complete the final portion of the project which includes a 3-5 paragraph letter to James Oglethorpe (Due Friday, August 26th) Thursday - Complete guided notes on the Royal colonial period in Georgia (SS8H2c) Friday - **Classroom Guidance lesson with counselor** Monday - Review game on Geography of GA (SS8G1) and Pre-historic peoples of North America (SS8H1); Finish Tuesday - Unit test on Geography of GA (SS8G1) and Pre-historic peoples of North America (SS8H1) Wednesday - Students will begin the last part of the SS8H1 standard on European exploration of North America with guided notes. Thursday - Students will analyze a modified version of the Charter of 1732 which established the colony of Georgia. Students will complete Thinking Notes and a Written Document Analysis sheet. Friday - Students will begin guided notes on the trustee period of the Georgia colony and complete vocabulary for the SS8H2 unit. Monday - Students will begin the unit on prehistoric people of North America with guided notes on the Paleo, Archaic, Woodland, and Mississippian time periods; The Powerpoint that contains the Georgia prehistory unit is on the same PowerPoint as the geography unit. This Powerpoint is reposted on this blog entry. Tuesday - The class will be introduced to a unit project on comparing/contrasting the Paleo, Archaic, Woodland, and Mississippian peoples using Venn diagrams. In small groups, students will be assigned an era and begin a poster project that creates a scene from that selected time period with captains that explain what is on the poster. Wednesday - Continue creating a scene from a selected time period with captions Thursday - Finish Native American cultures project and each group will present their project to the class Friday - Review unit vocab with "I Can" statements for the unit; review board game |
