Welcome to the 2016-17 school year! This blog site is your main source for information and assignments pertaining to your 8th grade Georgia Studies class. The "Home" page contains resources used in class and for completing assignments (i.e. projects, web-quests, online textbook, review, etc). The blog will be updated at least once a week or as needed. If you have any questions, e-mail Mr. Jackson using the e-mail address in the syllabus.
Monday - Students will be led through a discussion on syllabus, course description, classroom expectations, and agenda; Students will also complete a Body Biography assignment that lets them "draw" their personality and interests. Tuesday - Students will begin the first unit of the school year on the geography of Georgia (SS8G1) by completing their first set of guided notes in class using a closed notes graphic organizer. Students will also be assigned a blank GA map to fill in the 5 physio-graphic regions of Georgia and the major physical features. The online textbook (The Georgia Studies Digital Textbook: Our State and Our Nation) and the print version of Georgia and the American Experience will be available to assist students to complete the map. Wednesday - Students will complete a 5 regions of Georgia flip book that covers all major characteristics each physio-graphic region of Georgia. Note:Materials to complete this assignment will be available in class but it is recommended that students make many of these materials available at home (i.e. color pencils, construction paper, glue sticks, rulers, etc) Due Monday, August 8th. Thursday - Continue completing the 5 regions of Georgia flip book Friday - Geography of Geogia quiz;Finish and submit 5 regions of Georgia flip book
