Welcome to Georgia Studies!
This blog will be your "one stop shop" for all the activities and assignments that will be completed in Mr. Jackson's class. Check this blog early and often if you need to make up assignments, study for an assessment, or find resources for a project. Remember that any resource you need for studying or to complete an assignment is available on the "Home" page. Monday - Introduction: Mr. Jackson will introduce himself and Georgia Studies. The PowerPoint that is used for this introduction is available for viewing and download below. Students will also complete a Body Biography assignment to help Mr. Jackson get to know students. Tuesday - Students will begin the first two Connecting Themes of Social Studies with a class discussion on Beliefs & Ideals and Conflict & Change using the attached PowerPoint. Students will then complete a 6 C's of Primary Source Analysis on a reading for Beliefs and Ideals and a 4 square comic strip assignment for conflict and change. Wednesday - The connecting themes of Conflict Resolution and Production/Distribution/Consumption themes will be covered. Students will participate in a class discussion on conflict resolution, define production/distribution/consumption and finish the 4 panel comic strip from yesterday's lesson. Thursday - In groups, students will participate in a class discussion on the connecting theme of Location as well as complete an epitaph on a historical figure for Individuals/Groups/Institutions. Each student will also complete Thinking Notes on the major forms of government. Friday - Class discussion on Movement/Migration; Video analysis of the theme of Rule of Law; Each group will complete a Think-Pair-Share on the positive & negative impacts of an assigned piece of technology
