Monday - Students will complete guided notes on the era of European exploration and colonization of the Americas (SS8H1d). Tuesday - Students will complete the 8th grade social studies Student Learning Objectives (SLO) pretest in the computer lab; Complete a video webquest on the beginnings of the Georgia colony (SS8H2) Attached below; If finished with webquest, play at least two rounds of the Unit 2 Quizlet review game linked below. Wednesday - Students will also complete a +1 paragraph "Show What You Know" newspaper article of DeSoto's arrival in North America or Spanish missions in the Georgia barrier islands. Instructions for this assignment are attached below. Monday - Students will cover the first unit of history with guided notes on the native peoples of North America (SS8H1). Tuesday - Students will complete a virtual field trip on the ancient burial sites of Native Americans in Georgia. Wednesday - Complete geography study guide; Review for unit test on Georgia geography and Native Americans Thursday - Unit test on Georgia geography (SS8G1) and Native Americans (SS8H1) Friday - TBA - Begin unit on colonial period of Georgia (SS8H2) L.Q. - What are the major physical features of Georgia?
Monday - Students will continue studying the geography of Georgia through completing a chart on the major physical features of Georgia's 5 geographic regions using a guided reading. This chart will be part of students' notes and will remain in their social studies binders. (Note: the guided reading is attached but is password protected for copyright purposes. Please see Mr. Jackson for the password that was given in class.) Tuesday - Students will complete guided notes on the climate, physical features, and resources of Georgia using a PowerPoint and graphic organizer (attached below). Wednesday - Students will begin a flipbook project that advertises the 5 regions of Georgia and their location, major features, resources, climate, and land use. Instructions are attached below.
