Advanced GA Studies
Exploring the history, geography, government, and economics of the great state of Georgia.
Monday - Students will begin a science/social studies cross-curricular activity on the bombing of Hiroshima during WWII. Video clips from a documentary on the advancement of technology in warfare will be viewed. Students will complete documentary questions and participate in class discussion.
Tuesday - Documentary questions Wednesday - Documentary questions Thursday - STEM Day -- Students will participate in a full day of building/testing of balloon rocket cars and recording data. Friday - Holiday party/team-building games and activities in homerooms

Monday - Class review on the causes of the Civil War
Tuesday - Causes of the Civil War quiz (SS8H6a quiz) Wednesday - **Midterm** - Students will complete a project using Read-Write-Think.org Thursday - **Midterm** - Students will complete a project using Read-Write-Think.org Friday - Georgia Milestones review #4-6 Monday - Students will complete a tic-tac-toe project on the causes of the Civil War. This will include three "mini" projects that are chosen by students. Attached are the directions.
Tuesday - Tic-tac-toe projects Wednesday - Tic-tac-toe projects Thursday - Career awareness day with Ms. Patterson (for each Social Studies class) Friday - Students will begin having Georgia Milestones Test review segments every Friday. A reading passage will be presented on a unit previously covered in class. Students will copy down the questions and answer using the reading passage. **Note: Students should keep these in their normal Social Studies designated area of their binder. Georgia Milestones Review quizzes will be administered periodically throughout the school year.** |
